While researching resources for Kindy recently I found file folders. I had not seen these before and was smitten instantly. File folders are a simple activity all in one place, similar to busy bags. There are so many awesome templates available on bloggers pages for free, on teacher printable sites for free or cheap and for sale on some online stores. Many of the ideas a great and although I could make these myself I thought it best to test them out and see how they work (and why make something that is already done for me). I started with two file folders I knew Cakes would love, colour matching and sorting.
The ice cream shop from Mr Printables has a cute little pocket to store the scoops of ice cream and the blocks off of the sticks. Cakes quickly added the scoops to the cones though realised she needed help with the ice blocks. As she pointed out that there were words (well she said numbers but that is something we are working on) and I needed to read them out. Very quickly she has remembered where her favourite three colours are and places these in first and then has me read out the remainder of the colours.
The paint brush colours from Confessions of a homeschooler has the cutest little paint pots that double as storage once the activity is complete. By the time Cakes has placed in most of the colours she has had enough with thirty-two paint brushes needed to find their paint pots.
