Cakes has been desperately asking to cooking each day. As she eats very little of her own cooking and Daddy and I do not have a sweat tooth we have been trying to make things she could give as gifts. I recently stumbled across a gag gift that I thought was super cute. Naughty coal to give to friends and family who have been naughty not nice. As these are just rice crispies it was an easy make and I knew that many of our family and friends liked them as they got demolished at Cakes's horsey birthday party earlier in the year.
Cakes first set out weighing the marshmellows, only necessary due to using the left over pink ones from our Snowman biscuits (though a great learning experience all the same). She then added the butter and marshmellows and stirred them until it made a goopy liquid. With a dash of black colouring we had black mashmellow goop. Cakes added the rice bubbles and mixed (with a little help) until they were all covered in black marshmellow goop. The best fun was plopping it out on the parchment paper. No need to make them look smooth and good as all the different shapes helps with the realism of coal. We popped them in ziplocks like we did with the reindeer noses and added a note with the following poem.

I heard you have been naughty not nice,
And Santa even checked his list twice.
So all the way from the cold North Pole
all you're getting is a bag of coal.
