Leaving mine and Cakes's new work school after a visit she noticed some cup cakes on the Director's desk and asked for them. Obviously she was told no. Being the negotiator she is she went straight to work "have some at home, Mum? Buy some going home, Mum? Make it for me? I making it?". So seeing we happened to have a cake mix at home we decided to make one. Only problem was it was almost dinner time (and even though I can't cook well, I do attempt it occasionally). Luckily as I was getting the ingredients ready Nanny and Poppy walked in. Nanny worked with Cakes while I made dinner. This was an exciting and messy experience for all (especially with so much blue and red dye in the cake to make purple). First hurdle was no eggs, even with a quick dash to Splinter's house we still had no eggs. Second was Poppy screaming "oh no, I can't believe you are letting her do this, what a mess", really Pop she is fine. Before the third I would like to announce Cakes ate some of the mixture, yay! Normally children lick the bowl at the end, Cakes never has, this time she licked the bowl and spoon after each spoonful into the trays but a lick is a lick and I was excited. Then the third problem, I put them in the oven for 20 minutes, this was half the time the packet said, but then realised they were much, much smaller than half the size. What I should have done CHECKED THEM AS THEY COOKED, I guess I need to learn to cook some time and trail and error is the best way.
