Cakes got this awesome Dolly for her first birthday from her Nanny. She talks when her hands touch certain parts of her body, however Cakes was not very interested in her until recently. Unfortunately Dolly's hair has looked like this for almost a year now. Cakes is very fond of her of late and Dolly is involved in much of Cakes's play and learning. Recently Cakes has been checking her own hair out in the mirror and commenting on how pretty she looks. One day when commenting on her own beauty she pointed out that Dolly was sad because she wasn't pretty. This opened up a whole can of worms about beauty but when we got to the bottom of it Cakes pointed out Dolly could be pretty if she brushed her hair. So Cakes has been madly brushing Dolly's hair and it really just looks the same. After some research I stumbled across this post suggesting the use of fabric softener. As we went all green just before Cakes came along we don't use fabric softener, we use vinegar. So with a spray bottle, some water and a splash of vinegar we set out to brush Dolly's hair. The outcome was great and Cakes is super stoked. She now spends much of the day with the spray bottle and hair brush brushing Dolly's hair, her own hair, my hair and sometimes the cat (which we really are trying to deter her from doing).
