Cakes has had money to burn the last few times we have been to the shops. I am fortunate that she is a cheap skate like me and likes to buy cheap items (often looking for the specials tags). On this occasion she picked out a small bag of foam letters for $3. How can we go wrong with that? I had been meaning to make some letters and numbers (either out of cardboard or foam, both would have cost me more and taken time to make).
We spent some time sorting the colours before sorting into piles of numbers and letters. After much discussion and sorting it became easy for her to sort the letters separate to the numbers. Although she continues to call letters, numbers, and vice versa. I am sure this is something she will get with time and exposure. She had fun placing letters together and asking me to read the 'word', with some cheating I slipped in a few words such as cat, dog and her name.
